Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

             Were : The objectives of this research, 1)  To study the social responsibility of students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok,     2) to compare the opinions of the social responsibility of students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok and 3) to study problems and obstacles of creation and enhancing the social responsibility of students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok.

              This research was executed by using Mixed Methodology Research to collect data consisting of quantitative and qualitative research. Researcher used Taro Yamane’s method to randomly pick up sample group of 239 students from 592 students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted to statistical data such as Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard deviation. Then using these statistical data to test the hypotheses (t-test) which One Way Analysis of Variance, LSD (Least Significant Difference). For qualitative one, 10 Key informants were interviewed in this study. The collected data were analyzed by Content Analysis technique.

 

The findings of this study are concluded as follows:

 

              1. The students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok have moderate level of social responsibility in all 4 main aspects—education, school, family, and social—with average score 3.03 

 

              2. Analytical result of the social responsibility of students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok, classified by personal factors, it showed that students who have different GPA (Grade Point Average) and different parent’s occupation. The level of social responsibility of them does not have significant differences. Therefore, the set hypothesis is rejected. Whilst students who have different age, grade, and activity participation, it showed that the level of social responsibility of them have significant differences at 0.05 level of confidence, thus accepting formulated hypotheses.

              3. The problems and obstacles of creation and enhancing the social responsibility of students of Wat Benchamabophitr School, Dusit district, Bangkok. The research divide them into 3 main aspects, namely, school, family, and social aspect. Firstly, for school aspect, too short interval between each subject causes students cannot attend classroom on time, the teaching style of teachers which is hard to comprehend causes students are reluctant to attend the class, lack of responsibility to submit the assignment or homework on due date, lack of responsibility to participate school activities and follow school regulation, and lack of support from school to participate CSR activities which being held nearby area of school. Secondly, for family aspect, the research showed that lack of responsibility to do the housework since hanging out with their friends, and lack of responsibility to respond parent’s admonition. Finally, for social aspect, lack of generousness to help other people and lack of courage to advice and caution their friends or other people when they are doing unsuitable behavior. For example, smoking in school area and so on.
