Abstract

 

          The thesis is a qualitative research in the field of Vipassanābhāvanā. The research focuses on the study of primary data basted on the Pali Canon, Commentaries, Sub-Commentaries, Path of Purification and related Theravada Buddhist Scriptures. The objectives are as follows: 1) To study Papañcadhamma principle which appears in Madhupindhiggasutta and 2) To study of Vipassanābhāvanā practicing which appears in Madhupinadhikasutta.

            Madhupindhiggasutta is a melodious sermon  was said by Buddha concerning the principle causing one to be slow known as Dirversifacational Dhamma (Papañcadhamma). Dirversifacational Dhamma is the name of Defilement group, namely, Craving (Tanhā), Conciet (Mana), and View (Dhitti). Those are defilements causing one to be slow and they make people who have them cannot move out from existence (Bhava). Diversificational Dhamma in Madhupindhiggasutta consists of 108 Cravings (Tanhã), 9 Conceits (Mana), 62 views (Dhittis) and the origin of that Diversificational Dhamma dwells Ayatana (sense-spheres).

            To apply of principle in Diversificational Dhamma for practicing of Vipasanabhavana is founded that Craving (Tanhã), Conceit (Mana), Views (Dhittis) are Defilement or Mental factors (Cetasikas) that occurred along with Unwholesome Consciousness (Akusala-citta) based on the Internal sense-fields (Ajjhattikayatanas), viz. eyes, ears, noses, tongue, body, and mind, together with External sense-fields (Bãhirãyatana), viz. form (Rupa), sound (Sadda), smell (Gandha), taste (Rasa), touch (Photthabba), and mind-objects (Dhamma). These 12 Sense-fields are well-known as BhumiVipasana, or a type of emotion of Vipasana. 

            Form the research found that, the practicing of Vipasana by holding 12 Sense-fields (Ãyatanas) and consideration of the eyes, ears, noses, tongue, body, and mind –in brief called Form and Mentality (Rupa and Nama) – when the form (Rupa) contact with the eye, then form (Rupa) is an external Sense-fields while the eye is Internal sense-fields, which is called Cakkhupasada and Cakkhu that causes to consider that one sees well or not, or good Cakkhu or blind Cakkhu. Cakkhu is the Internal sense-fields that match the Rupa, the External sense-fields. This External sense-fields is called Rupa, etc. To control of mindfulness while Rupa contacts with the eyes causing wisdom (Pañña) arises and know Rupa and nama clearly, this is the Three Characteristics (Tilakkhana).
