Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research has 3 main objectives that are : to 1) study the new modern aviation and Buddhist approach aiming to develop the pilot’s performance during approach and landing 2) integrate Buddhist practice and 3) explore the outcomes of Buddhist practice.

The samples were divided into 2 groups.  Group I, the experimental group, implementedBojjhaga chanting for 10 minutes followed byÃnãpãnasati practice for 20 minutes prior to performing the landing duty. Group II, the control group, performed the landing duty without exercising Buddhist practice such that the general characteristics between these two groups were not significantly different.

It was foundthat Buddhist approach well enhanced pilot’s performance during descent.Comparing Post- to Pre-experiment, the pilot’s performance was greatly improved in terms of task load management, flight duty cooperation behavior, stress, emotional intelligence, and approach and landing duty with P values of 0.002, 0.002, 0.030 and 0.000 respectively.

The concluded model analyisis of this research was Post Approach and Landing Performance = 3.799 + 0.675 Pre Approach and Landing Performance – 0.046 Post Mental Demand – 0.048 Pre Effort – 0.035 Post Basic Stress.
