Factors Influencing on the Decision for Further Study of Students at Merit School of Monasteries in Buddhism: A Case Study of Dhammaraj suksa School, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

              The purpose of this research aimed to study and compare the factors influencing on the decision for further study of students at Dhammarajsuksa school. The questionnaire carried out in this study were the 5 level-rating scales as the tool. The 285 students were the population samples used in the study.

 

             The results showed that

             (1) The sampling responders were mostly the Buddhist monk students (57.97%) and the householder students (42.03%).

             (2) Regarding the motivation level on the decision to further study at Dhammarajsuksa school classified by the Buddhist monk and the householder students’ status, it Was found that it was at “Many” level, in overall (Mean = 3.86) and at “Moderate” level, in overall (Mean = 3.48), respectively.

             In relation to the motivation level on the decision for further study at Dhammarajsuksa school, in overall, classified by the secondary education and the high school education levels, it was found that it was at “Many” level, by means of 3.76 and 3.64, respectively.

             (3) Regarding the comparison of differences of the motivation levels’ means on the decision for further study at Dhammarajsuksa school classified by the Buddhist monk and the householder students’ status, in overall, it was found that it was statistical significance in differences at level of 0.05. Through the comparison by aspects, it found that it was also statistical significance in differences at level of 0.05 for the following 5 aspects; Faith to Buddhism, Welfares, School famousness accredited by the society, Learning achievement, and Desire characteristics.

             In relation to the analysis on the comparison of differences of the motivation levels’ means on the decision for further study at Dhammarajsuksa school classified by the class levels, in overall, it was found that it was statistical significance in differences at level of 0.05 for the following 3 aspects; Faith to Buddhism, Welfares, and School famousness accredited by the society.
