Abstract

The objectives of research are 1) for studying the efficiency in administration of Wat Luang Phor Sodh Dhammakayaram, Damnoen Sadauk district, Ratchaburi province, 2) for comparing the efficiency in administration of Wat Luang Phor Sodh based on an individual, and 3) for observing problems and obstacles in order to evaluate suggestions based on the administration of Wat Luang Phor Sodh for more efficiency. The research method is Survey Research with a sample of monks and novices who reside in Wat Luang Phor Sodh and laypeople who came to retreat at Wat Luang Phor Sodh - totaling 267. There are three steps of data collection: (1) general questions, (2) questions regarding with efficiency in administration of the Wat, and (3) questions based on problems, obstacles and recommendations or solutions regarding with the Wat administration. The result is 0.9093 confidence. Data analysis is based on T-test, one way analysis of variance and least significant difference or LSD.

The results of this study were concluded as follows:

1.    The efficiency in the Wat administration is based on the six aspects of Sangha administrations. It shows that five out of six aspects meet high level or five. Those five consist of 1) governance, 2) Buddhist studies, 3) infrastructure, 4) social responsibility, and 5) propagation.

2.    The efficiency in the Wat administration is based on individual’s factors. Those factors are status, age, and education. It shows that people with different background of status, age and education have different views to the efficiency in administration of the Wat. Those who have longer monkshood, education and Pali education have the same opinion - this does not match the hypothesis.

3.     Most problems of efficiency of the Wat refer to people in the administration level. The research shows that those people do not make enough effort and do not take full responsibilities. However, overall, efficiency in the administration of the Wat is high. This shows that the Wat has good policies and objectives towards the administration including putting right people on the right jobs.
