Efficiency of Temple Management in Muang District, Phetchaburi Province

Abstract

                    This research aimed to 1) study the efficiency of temple management in Muang district, Phetchaburi province, 2) compare the efficiency of temple management in Muang district, Phetchaburi province with different personal status, and 3) examine the problems, obstacles and suggestions in development the efficiency of temple management in Muang district, Phetchaburi province. The research method is Mixed Research, quantitative research field study with mahãnikãya monks in monastery of Muang district, Phetchaburi province - totaling 267.  The tool for collecting data was as the questionnaire is both closed and open-ended. The Researcher used in data analysis were the frequency, percentage (%), mean (), standard deviation (S.D.), test the hypothesis by testing the value F-test, one way analysis of variance and least significant difference or LSD. And, qualitative research is the analysis of documents and interviews.

The findings of this research are as follows:

                   1. The efficiency of temple management in Muang district, Phetchaburi province was found that overall in high level at mean of 3.54, when considering the separation aspects has found that in high level all aspect, the aspects that has the most value include the administration at mean of 3.59, the aspects with the lowest mean have 2 aspects include the education welfare, and the public assistance with a mean of 3.50 as well.

                   2. The comparison the efficiency of temple management in Muang district, Phetchaburi province with different personal status, test the hypothesis by analyzing the differences between the variables including age, years of being monk, general education level, Dhamma education, and Pali education of monks the respondents was found that the personal status of monks with age, years of being monk, general education level, and Dhamma education has results not different - this does not match the hypothesis. That personal status is Pali education has results the significantly different at the 0.05 level - match the hypothesis.

                   3. The suggestions and guideline in development the efficiency of  temple management in Muang district, Phetchaburi province by aspects of the study include (1) the administration: the guideline in development the efficiency of Sangha’s monastery management the training to develop the skills and knowledge to manage the sangha administrators all levels, the collaborate with local governments to develop the monastery in community, and the opportunities for skills monks took part in the appointment of the sangha administrators as appropriate, (2) the religious studies: the guideline in development the efficiency of Sangha’s monastery management the change the teaching of Dhamma departments so that students can put to practical application, the teacher regularly enough, and the modern teaching equipment to help save time in the classroom, (3) the education welfare: the guideline in development the efficiency of Sangha’s monastery management the allocated funds to support ongoing by cutting in construction unnecessary, be coordinated between the monastery to support scholarships to study thoroughly, and the monastery should be coordinated with state and private support for scholarships to schools in the area so as not to duplicate, (4) the propagation of Buddhism: the guideline in development the efficiency of Sangha’s monastery management the sangha administrators should be support the monks to the welfare of the public mind with the development of education to have more efficient, Insert the Dhamma of Buddhism is self-development Into the activities of the local tradition, and the work is aggressive, not wait for someone into monastery but bring Dhamma to home the public, (5) the public assistance: the guideline in development the efficiency of Sangha’s monastery management the coordinated budget request of the government or local governments for the construction and recondition of the building in monastery the area, should be maintained the old buildings over the construction of new buildings and the construction of buildings by consider local art, (6) the public welfare: the guideline in development the efficiency of Sangha’s monastery management should be coordinated with state and private for the public welfare so as not to duplicate, and should set clear goals and objectives before you begin work the public welfare.
