An Administrative Development of the Curriculum in the Field of Political Science of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University

Abstract

 The objectives of this study were 1) to study the present condition in administering the curriculum in the field of Political Science of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in Campuses in the northeastern part, 2) to study the factors contributing to administering the desirable curriculum in the field of Political Science of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, and 3) to present the administrative development in administering the desirable curriculum of the University.

This is a mixed method research focusing on the use of qualitative method based on the in-depth interview with administrators, totaling 20 persons or by way of the Focus Group Discussion consisting of 10 persons by using a technique of Content Analysis. And this research also used the quantitative method in collecting data from 278 sampling groups in analyzing data for frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The results of research was shown that
1. The current condition in administering the curriculum in the field of Political Science of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in the Campuses in the northeastern part was found that it lacked the Political Science’s knowledge integrated with local knowledge. There are a lot of problems that intercepted the work causing the stagnant administration. The curriculum evaluation of Political Science does not conform to the aims, and the curriculum lecturers still are not enough.
2. The factors contributing to administer the desirable curriculum in the field of Political Science of Mahulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in the
Campuses in the northeastern part was found that it was consisted of 5 aspects as follows : 1) with respect to curriculum and instruction, it can build the identity of the institution and understand the curriculum integrated with subjects, 2) with respect to the lecturers who finished an education relevant to the field, and the lecturers possess the knowledge related to other institutions, 3) with respect to the support of academic matter, it must be a proactive and defensive work and find out for the sources of information in developing knowledge and academic work, 4) with respect to measuring and evaluating the results, it must have the criteria, and regulation in disseminating the document which is the main mechanics in driving an evaluation, and 5) with respect to the budget, it must have the plan on money strategy, risky defense, and purchasing modern objects.
3. The development on administering the desirable curriculum in the field of Political Science of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in the Campuses in the northeastern part was found that ;
1. With respect to curriculum and instruction based on Apahariyadhamma found that it was consisted of 7 aspects as follows; 1) the meeting conducted once a month, 2) common knowledge awareness, 3) everyone can perform things with the same standard, 4) supporting the women’ roles more and more, 5) chairperson having leadership, 6) the courses giving respectable values, and 7) admiring the personnel’s goodness.
2. With respect to the personnel based on Apahariyadhamma found that; it was consisted of 7 aspects, namely, 1) stipulating the meeting plan, 2) team work system, 3) personnel can be the model on culture, 4) having common agreement, 5) giving values to good persons, 6) listening to the Chair, and 7) personnel has loving-kindness to one another.
3. With respect to the academic support based on Apahariyadhamma found that it had 7 aspects, namely, 1) meeting to analyze the field, 2) everyone can know the same target, 3) creating the local institute’s values, 4) the frame stipulating condition, 5) period of producing the academic work on women, 6) creating an academic exemplar, and 7) praising and giving willpower to the persons having the academic work.
4. With respect to the measurement and evaluation based on Apahariyadhamma found that it had 7 aspects, namely, 1) stipulating the qualified standard, 2) personnel knows how to measure and evaluate the results, 3) the standard of evaluation based on the important persons in the
locality, 4) the format of measurement and evaluation based on the standard of the Office of the Higher Education Commission, 5) giving an authority to women for their responsibility, 6) the leader knows the way of measurement and evaluation, and 7) giving the standard for the person who is not clever but he/she is good and diligent.
5. With respect to budget based on Apahariyadhamma found that it had 7 aspects, namely, 1) making plan on annual expense, 2) making common budget plan, 3) earning the budget to build the monument, 4) spending money worthily, 5) praising good persons, and driving away bad persons, 6) giving an opportunity to women to control the budget, and 7) personnel respects the decision on the budget.
