A Study of Buddha Dhamma Principles for Corruption Prevention in the Current Society of Thailand

Abstract

Abstract

                           This thesis had of three purposes. They were to (1) study the corruption in Theravada Buddhism, and (2) study the corruption based on the current society of Thailand, and (3) study Buddha Dhamma principles for corruption prevention in the current society of Thailand. The results were found as follows:

                           Corruption in Buddhist sense consists of physical corruption verbal corruption and mental corruption In Vinaya,those who violate,  the religious discipline will be punished.Thus, in order to be free from corruption, guidelines for Dhamma performance were set up. After Buddhist corruption, groups of monks will have a meeting.The monk who breaks the religious discipline will be punished as  physical, verbal, and mental corruption is considered”impure” This behavior is an evil way leading to wí-ní-bàat or the hell. The main factor of corruption occurrence are lack of precepts,  selfishness and shamelessness

                           Corruption in the current society of Thailand is considered the most seriously threat destroying the security of Thailand. There will be a high impact on the quality of life of Thai people as a whole if there is a corruption of millions bath from a project. Getting money from the corruption is a lack of morality, selfishness, shamelessness  to the sin. Besides, this behavior was against honesty, rules, or law. This bad behavior is also caused by the  bad habits, law violation, and having wrong value.                             

                            Buddhist principles for preventing the corruption in the current society of Thailand are five basic Buddhist precepts of moral practices,five Dhamma, principle honesty, hiri-ottuppa, or fear of sin four types of biases, right livelihood, and solitude. Thus, the prevention of corruption using Buddha Dhamma will help  develop body, speech, and mind including the development of economics, politics, and the society. Those who do not involve in corruption will go to a peaceful place after death. In contrast, those who involve in corruption will go to  hell.
