Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research on "Buddhist Leadership of Community leaders to Develop a strong Community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province had 4 objectives : 1) to study the leadership of community leaders according to Sappurisadhamma (virtue of the righteous) to develop a strong community in Bo Rai District, TratPromince, 2) to study the people's opinions towards the development to be a strong community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province, 3) to study the relationship between the leadership of community leaders according to Sappurisadhamma and the development to be a strong community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province and 4) to study the guidelines and suggestions to develop the relationship detweenBuddhadhamma and the development to  be a strong community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province.

This study was carried on through the Mixed Method Research consisting of quantitative, survey and qualitative research. Data collecting was done dy distributing the questionnaire. The Sampling group used in this study were people living in Bo Rai District, Trat Province for the amount of 395 persons. The statistics used to analyze the data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-Square test for testing the hypothesis and Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. And for qualitative research, the In-Depth Interview with 12 key informants was selected to use in this study in order to support the data received from the quantitative research.

The results of this study appeared as the following :

1. The  leadership of community leaders according to Sappurisadhamma to develop a strong  community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province, it revealed in average at the high level (=4.34). When considered into each item, it found that Dhammannutã : knowing the law showed =4.44, Atthannutã : knowing the meaning showed =4.39, Mattannutã : knowing how to be temperate showed      =4.35, Kãlannutã : knowing the proper tive showed =4.32, Parisannutã : knowing the society showed =4.26 and Puggalannutã : knowing the different individuals showed =4.29. In the meantime, the leadership of community leaders development in order to develop to be the strong community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province, it disclosed in average at the high level (=4.24). When considered into each item, it appeared that on Economy showed =4.26, Society showed =4.22, Mentality showed =4.28, Natural Resources showed =4.20 and Local Wisdom Technology showed =4.23.

2. The relationship between the leadership of community leaders according to Sappurisadhamma and the development to be the strong commuinty in Bo Rai District, Trat Province, it revealed in average to deny the hypothesis in all items and for the relationship in average showed at the high level (R=1.871**) and also found the positive relationship at the high levels for all items.

3. The guidelines and suggestions to develop the relationship between Buddadhamma and the development to be the strong community in Bo Rai District, Trat Province, it appeared that the leaders should present and correct the provlems found as the people's needs, the leaders should participate in the development of the local communities to show their good patterns or idols, the leaders should allow the people to have opportunities to show off their opinions concerning the development of their own communities, the leaders should provide any chances for the people to do the assessment whenever the projects were finished and the leaders should encourage the people to apply the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy being the main principle of living in their daily lives.
