Abstract

The objective of this thesis is to study an attitude of teen Buddhists in offering General Dedication to the Sangha: A Case Study at Wat Jorakeyai Amphur Bangsaothong, Samutprakarn province.  The sampling group consists of 96 persons. Statistical used to conduct the research were analyses of basis data, i.e. percentage, average of and Standard Deviation. The T-Dependence and Analysis of Covariance (ANOVA) are used as analytical tools for the research objective. The research found that:

The majority of the sampling group has high percentage of attitude in offering General Dedication to the Sangha. They also have learned that percepts-taking is needed prior to each dedication. The research also found that female teenagers have lower attitude in offering General Dedication to the Sangha than male, whilst those aged between 16 and 20 have higher attitude than the ones below 15 and over 20. In dividing between education backgrounds, those with secondary-level are found to have higher attitude, at 0.05, than those with elementary-level. However, there is no significant statistical difference at this point.

In studying difficulties concerning the offering General Dedication to the Sangha, the research found that the majority of sampling group feels that this has been the easiest way for them to make merit. The research also found that Buddhist teenagers prefer to do this kind of offering because they believe that this practice would give them the most merit.  They also believe, with the statistic of -3.91, that the Dedication should be offered to any unspecified monk. And finally, they believe that the Dedication can be offered to as many Buddhist monks as they wish.
