The Quality of Life of People Who Use Herbal Medicines in Thai Medical Tradition to Adjust Equilibrium of Four Elements According to Principles of Buddhist Psychology

Abstract

Abstract

This research is quasi-experimental design and its’ objectives are: 1) to study the quality of life of people who use herbal medicines to adjust the equilibrium of four elements according to Thai medical tradition together with a health promotion of five factors( food, exercise, air, emotion and excrement)  and the principle of the Buddhist psychology. 2) to study the way of using the herbal medicines to adjustment the equilibrium of four elements according to Thai medical tradition together with a health promotion according to principles of five factors and the Buddhist psychology. 3) to study the efficiency of using the herbal medicines  to adjust to equilibrium of four elements according to the Thai medical tradition together with a health promotion according to principles of five factors and the Buddhist psychology.

The subjects of this study is 20 clients of Thai tradition medical center of Wat Bangkrang, Muang district, Nonthaburi Province, who were participated this study voluntarily.

Each of ten subjects were assigned into experimental and control groups. On the experimental group, 10 members were assigned to use herbal medicines for 120 days and started to participate the activity for a health promotion according to the principles of five factors together with the usage of the principle of Dharma( Four Paths of accomplishment) on 61st.-120th. days. The tool of this research is questionnaire for evaluation the quality of life. The statistics used for data analysis are a percentage, mean , standard deviation and T-test.

The result of research show that

      1). Mean of quality of life in experimental group (0.69 ) is higher than control group(0.39) at 0.30.

     2). In comparison of the result quality of life at pretest and post-test, it is found both groups are an important different in statistics at 0.05%. It is indication that has the efficiency of using the herbal medicines to adjust equilibrium of four elements according to Thai medical tradition

      3). The subjects in experimental group have a better life quality because of  willpower, patience and interest of patients  looking for their health after participating in the activity.  The Mean of principle Dharma (Four Path of Accomplishment) before participating is 3.92, after participating is 4.42, and from the result of interview.
