A Guideline for Development of Teachers’ Characteristics Based on brahmaviharadhamma in Secondary Schools, Pathumthani Province (Educational Administration)

Abstract

The objectives of this research were; 1) to study the state of teachers’ characteristics based on Brahmaviharadhamma in secondary schools in Pathumthani province, 2) to study principles and methods of teachers’ characteristics development based on Brahmaviharadhamma in secondary schools in Pathumthani province, and 3) to propose a guideline of teachers’ characteristics development based on Brahmaviharadhamma in secondary schools in Pathumthani province. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 124 samples and analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The qualitative data were collected from documents and in-depth interviews with 6 key-informants and then analyzed by content analysis.

The results of the study found that:

1. The state of teachers’ characteristics based on Brahmaviharadhamma in secondary schools in Pathumthani province in 4 aspects was at the highest level in total and in aspects. The highest level was on Equanimity, followed by Compassion, Loving-kindness, and Sympathetic Joy respectively.

2. Principles and methods of teachers’ characteristics development based on Brahmaviharadhamma in secondary schools in Pathumthani province indicated that there were improvement of office and workplace appropriately, availability of work equipment and tools, follow the rule of law and friendly treatment to each other.

3. A guideline of teachers’ characteristics development based on Brahmaviharadhamma in secondary schools in Pathumthani province was that; In Loving-kindness, the administrators should have a good relationship with their subordinates and respect their dignity and rights, In Compassion, the administrators should dare to change and improve their administrative system, In Sympathetic Joy, the administrators should pay attention to problems occurred and try to find solutions eagerly, and In Equanimity, the administrators should administrate with justice and the principles of Brahmaviharadhamma.
