The aims of this research were; 1) to study the state of Buddhist propagation of the Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus in Europe, 2) to develop the Buddhist propagation strategy based on Patisambhida for Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus in Europe, and 3) to propose the Buddhist propagation strategy based on Patisambhida for Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus in Europe. The data of this qualitative were collected from documents, in-depth interviews with 15 key informants and focus group discussions with 9, and then analyzed content analysis.
The results of the study found that:
1. The states of Buddhist propagation of the Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus in Europe were as follows: Strengths; the president of the association is responsible for the operation, there is a working structure according to the regulations of the association, and there is stability under the protection of local governments, Weaknesses; work operation cannot be run according to the regulations of the association, the work management is repetitive with the temple administration, there is no specific propagation plan, lack of long-term mission plan activities, and no plan to support temples lacking of missionary monks. Opportunities; Thai and local people have knowledge and interest in Buddhism and the missionary monks are ready to improve themselves, and Threats; there are some difficulties for missionary monks in applying for visa, communicating with local people in English of their languages, and adjusting to the cold climate
2. The result of the development of the Buddhist propagation strategy based on Patisambhida for Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus in Europe consists of three strategic mechanisms: vision, mission, and objective and 4 strategies; 1) the strategy of discrimination of meanings (clarity in information reception), 2) The strategy of discrimination of ideas (clarity in main point), 3) The strategy of language (ability in communication), and 4) The strategy of sagacity (creative ideas and innovation).
3. The Buddhist propagation strategy based on Patisambhida for Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus in Europe consists of: 1) Vision; propagating Buddhism accomplished with content, knowledge, practice, language, critical thinking and problem solving, 2) Mission; (1) to propagate Buddhism in Europe sustainably, (2) to develop the overseas missionary monks to accomplish with Dhamma contents, languages and problem solution skills, 3) Objective; (1) overseas missionary monks have ability in Buddhist propagation, (2) overseas missionary monks have creative communication skills, and 4) Strategy; strategies for overseas missionary monks to create intelligence in meanings, ideas, language, and creative and applicative insight.
