Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1. To study the concepts and theories on new values and meanings in life, 2. To study the history and work of the role models in Buddhist way of life, and 3. To analyze the creation of new values and meanings of role models in Buddhist way of life.

The results of the research found that: 1. The value creation process And meaning caused by learning through experience, affecting ideas, attitudes, beliefs, values, leading to new thinking from the original idea by performing or experiencing on their own In accordance with the theory and practice of developing learning processes for change (Transformative learning) according to Jack Mezirow's concept. It can be seen that from experiencing the conditions of the three role modelss, they had examined or considered different feelings of themselves through feelings of fear, anger, guilt, shame, discomfort, etc. Jack Mezirow offered that beliefs, perspectives, frameworks, or assumptions of things of a person can create different feelings, leading them to transform into a meaningful learning process.

2. From the study of the history of the role models, it was found that the external environment of the role models, although different in age, life experience, education, origin, social influence, religion, but does not mean that Learning and development within each person's mind must be different according to external factors. That is, the learning process can occur at every moment of life and it is all up to the mind as important because the mind is the most important thing in the beginning that will cause the learning process to cause internal change until there is a change caused by the feeling (See - Feel - Change) and from the experience of each person's life.

3. The transformation of the underlying person is based on the Dharmic principle, combined with faith or belief, as the starting point of faith with the principle of the beginning of The Noble Eightfold Path, in order to achieve the correct understanding based on the Noble Truth 4.

In practice, it is important to create a new meaning by ourselves, bringing change in the good direction. In summary, learning to find answers to life in order to find meaning creates a feeling that connects between all things. With the existence of good karma, it will make this life meaningful, without suspicious in living both thought and spirit to advance to the ultimate meaning of no suffering. The existence of each person does not need to seek the meaning of life in the form of others, but should choose the right way for themselves. That is, we must perform each step of life well, learning each step in a valuable way, creating meaning to the end of life.
