Learning Management based on Iddhipāda IV in Social Studies, Religion and Culture Studies Department in High Schools under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25

Abstract

The aims of this research were: to study, to compare and study the ways to develop the learning management based on Iddhipāda IV (Pāli: iddhipāda, path of accomplishment) of Social Studies, Religion and Culture Studies Learning Areas in high schools under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25.

This study was a mixed method research between qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. The samples included 187 teachers of Social Studies, Religion and Culture Studies Department in 2019 and the target group included 10 educational administrators. The statistics used in data analysis were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation and One Way ANOVA.

The research results were as follows:

1) The mean score of the learning management based on Iddhipāda IV in the studied schools was at a high level. The scores of all studied aspects were the same, respectively ranked from Citta (thoughtfulness), Chanda (aspiration), Viriya (energy) and Vīmasā (Investigation).

2) Based on the comparison of the teacher opinions towards the learning management in accordance with their personal factors: education and work experience were indifferent with the statistical significance level of 0.05. This denied the set hypothesis.

3) The ways to develop the learning management based on Iddhipāda IV of Social Studies, Religion and Culture Studies Learning Areas in high schools under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25 are that the teachers should improve and develop learning management and ethics promotion; they should organize learning activities in communities and off-site learning resources by creating a learning environment for students; they should organize various learning processes and bring local wisdom and appropriate technology in learning management so that the students can learn from real experiences, practice mindfulness, recognize what to do and do that with creativity until they change both behavioral and intellectual thinking. This can help students to learn better, be more effective in applying in their study, show the ability to learn what they like and are interested in and eventually this will make students more successful.
