A Guideline for Early Childhood Development according to Education Reform Policy in Charity Schools of the Temples in Buddhism under the Office of the Private Education Commission Bangkok and Vicinity

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the opinions on early childhood development in accordance with education reform policy and to propose a guideline of early childhood development in accordance with education reform policy in charity schools of the temples in Bangkok and its vicinity. The data were collected by questionnaires from 120 samples consisting of administrators and teachers in charity schools of the temples in Buddhism, and then analyzed by percentage, mean and standard deviation.

 

The results of the study found that

1. The opinion towards the current state of early childhood development in accordance with education reform policy in charity schools of the temples in Buddhism was at a high level overall. The highest level was on emotional development, followed by social development, physical development, and intellectual development respectively.

2. The guidelines of early childhood development in accordance with education reform policy in charity schools of the temples in Buddhism in Bangkok and its vicinity were as follows:

2.1 Physical development; physical development should be done continuously and regularly, and the children should be provided with five groups of food.

2.2 Emotional development; emotional activities through arts, music, songs, movement, thinking, analyzing, and concentrating should be arranged for children appropriately.

2.3 Social development; daily activities, such as cleanliness, tidiness, standing in line, self-control and verbal expressions should be implemented for training the children.

2.4 Intellectual development; the children should be developed by group activity, playing, reading and saying short sentences.
