A Model of Leadership Development For Administrators at Lower Northern Secondary Schools

Abstract

This research had 3 objectives: 1) to study the conditions of developing leadership of administrators at Lower Northern Secondary Schools, 2) to create the model of leadership developing of administrators according to Buddhist Dhamma at Lower Northern Secondary Schools and 3) to evaluate the model of leadership developing of administrators according to Buddhist Dhamma at Lower Northern Secondary Schools. This research was a descriptive research.

The research procedures followed 3 steps: 1) to study the conditions of leadership developing of administrators at Lower Northern Secondary Schools by 18 in formants using the Semi-structure type of interviews to do the content analysis, 2) to create the model of leadership developing of administrators according to Buddhist Dhamma at Lower Northern Secondary Schools by a informants through managing into conversation groups. The tool used were recording forms of conversation groups and using to do the content analysis and 3) The evaluation results of Buddhist leadership Development model of Secondary school administrators in lower northern Thailand were collected form 30 key informants, Secondary Schools directors in Secondary Educational Service Area; 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42 in lower northern Thailand. The research instrument was the questionnaire about Buddhist leadership Development model asking 4 aspects; Accuracy, suitability, practicality, and utility. The statistics used in this research were Mean and Standard Deviation.

The results revealed as the following:

1. The conditions of leadership developing of administrators at Lower Northern Secondary Schools, it appeared that the administrators had leadership developed conditions to administrate 4 jobs : 1.academic jobs which needed to develop the curriculum, learning process, measurement and evaluation, 2.managing the budgets by focusing on freedom of management, agility, transparency and could be checked by emphasizing on accomplishment, 3.personnel management was important mission with fast and agility freely under the laws, the regulations, including creation morale and 4.general administration by providing other services in order to meet the goal according to standard of quality and mentioned targets.

2. The model of leadership developing of administrators according to Buddhist Dhamma at Lower Northern Secondary Schools, it showed that the structures were consisting of 3 parts : 1.introduction: 1) background and the importance of leadership, 2) objectives of the model, 2. Content : 1) administration 4 Jobs : academin, budget, personnel and general administration, 2) Buddhist Dhamma: Subburisadhamma 7 and part 3. condition of accomplishment: the administrators could take and apply into their jobs, including seeking their own approaches and appropriate methods of developing themselves.

3. The results of evaluation the model of leadership developing of administrators according to Buddhist Dhamma at Lower Northern Secondary Schools for 4 aspects of 4 models, it found that they were accuracy, suitability, feasibility in practicing and having benefits, all were at the highest levels and could be taken to be the model of developing leadership of administrators in secondary schools.
