Abstract

The purposes of this research were; 1) to study the principle of Brahmavihāra 4 and the etiquettes of the teachers’ profession 2) to study the concepts related to the etiquettes of the teachers’ profession and the principle of Brahmavihāra 4 of the teachers in the Municipal Schools  4 (Chalongrat) in Muang District, Nongkhai Province and 3) to study the guideline of application of the principle of Brahmavihāra 4 of the teachers in accordance with the teachers’ etiquettes in the Municipal School 4 (Chalngrat) in Muang District, Nongkhai Province. This research was the qualitative research  by analyzing the data from Tipitaka, Buddhist academic documents, related researches and the data from interviewing  and then to report in the descriptive analysis.

            The results of the research were found that Brahmavihāra is the principle of Dhamma resulting in the happiness due to the qualification of ones who have the right principle of Brahmavihāra, that is, to have the loving-kindness with equanimity, compassion with equanimity, sympathetic joy with equanimity and equanimity with loving-kindness, compassion and sympathetic joy.

            The teachers’ etiquettes make them good teachers and the levers of general people. Outside this, good persons can make benefits for themselves and the others, Not to do an evil is to reduce the burden of society, that is, not to solve the problems and to do good makes the benefit for society and assist the society to be progressive and the good model for other teachers.

The concepts related to the principle of Brahmavihara 4 of the teachers in the Municipal School 4 (Chalongrat) are found that the teachers have to have the loving-kindness, that is, to wish the others to have happiness, the compassion means the pity by thinking to make the others free from the suffering, meaning good wishes when the others facing the unsatisfactory and hard time, feeling pity, and worried when they see the others facing the suffering. The sympathetic joy means feeling satisfied with others when they see that the others getting the successfulness sincerely. The principle of equanimity means to express the mind in the middle way towards various events and to be virtue to reduce the 4 prejudices , that is, love, hate, delusion and afraid.

            The guideline in application of the principle of Brahmavihāra with teaching is found that the approach of application of the principle of Brahmavihāra and teaching such as to promote the teachers to apply the principle of loving-kindness, fondness and good wishes. The principle of compassion is pity, that is, to wish the others freeing from unhappiness and various problems. The principle of sympathetic joy, that is, to support and enhance and to give rewards in good occasion or to succeed in any way and to apply the principle of equanimity for judge when the learners dispute and the disputation is done with impartial, justice or love their students equally and to share the things equally.
