To analyze the aesthetics of Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang’s paintings that has been given in the form of critical evaluation and discussion, in order to make sense of his work of art clearly. The primary and secondary data concerning Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang’s biography and the style of his paintings were gathered with the theories of aesthetics as found in Thai and English language documents. Besides, in this thesis the researcher interviewed the artists and the colleague of Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang.

The research results show that the style of creation and expression of arts in Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang’s paintings has been derived from a synthesis of his unique style that was influenced by Buddhist philosophy and Western art. Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang received his inspiration from the nature and then he selected only the impressed things from the nature in order to express them in his work of art with new dimension of the color and atmosphere that were not available in a real world. His work of art has been resulting in effecting audience’s emotion and imagination of the dream-world which is full of mystics, calmness and happiness. His work is corresponding to the philosophy of art to the representation theory of Aristotle and to the expression theory of John Dewey who believes expression as evocation, Leo Tolstoy who believes expression as communication and C. J. Ducassee who believes expression as property of the work of art. Regarding the aesthetic values, the work of art of Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang has real aesthetic values that can create aesthetic experience to the audience corresponding to both subjective theory and relative theory, but in analysis, the work of art of Ajarn Tawee Nandakwang has more corresponding to relative theory than the subjective theory.
