Abstract

This research is ‘A study of Monastery Administrative and Management in Buddhism: A Case Study of Wat Phra That Chae Haeng, Phupieng District, NanProvince’. The objectives of this study were to study the monastery administrative and management system and to study the factors that affect to Wat Phra That Chae Haeng’s administrative and management.

The research was studied about the management system of each department; Human Resources Management, Administrative Management, Accounting and Financial Management, Religion Property Management, Monastery’s activities and building. The data has been collected by interviewing all internal and external stakeholders of Wat Phra That Chae Haeng and documenting the reaction and surrounding during the interviewing. Then all data were analyzed by content based analysis.

The results of the research found that Wat Phra That Chae Haeng had a clear and transparent administrative and management system covered Human Resources Management, Administrative Management, Accounting and Financial Management, Religion Property Management and Monastery’s activities. The Management Committees are formed to manage each department. The convenience and efficiency management system of the Wat Phra That Chae haeng was shown by divided into each department with separated staffs. This management system created a convenient coordination. From the interviewing staffs of each department, it found that they intend to work and follow the system assigned by the monastery.

In addition, there are 2 factors that affect and impact on Wat Phra That Chae Haeng’s administrative and management. The internal factors are a leadership of Abbot, staffs and budget and the external factors are clergy, government sector and private sector. Both factors are support and benefit to each other, The Wat Phra That Chae Haeng succeeds and becomes one of a good model on Monastery’s development in Buddhism.
