Abstract

This thesis  had   three  purposes : (1) study  the  yellow  robes  of  Theravada   Buddhism, (2)  to  study  the  provisions  relating  to  the  use  of  yellow  robes  to  the Buddhist  doctrine, and  (3)  to  study   the   benefits  of  using  the  yellow robes  of  Theravada  Buddhism. The results  showed  that  in  Theravada  Buddhism, the word “yellow robe” means  the yellow robes  of  Buddhist  monks  and  novices  clothing  in Theravada  Buddhism consisting  of Sangkhati Uttrasong  and  Antaravasaka  as  appeared  in  Tripitaka  or  the  Holy Scriptures;  Which  was  consistent  with  the  yellow  robes of monks  called “yellow robes” because of the content on  the  yellow  robe  usually  refers  to  the  three  pieces  of  Antaravasaka, Uttrasong  and  Sangkhati;  that  Buddha  allowed  the  Buddhist  monk  to  accept  the civara  presented  by  the  wealthy,  but  the  yellow  robes  in  this  Civara  Khantaka  means  the  fabric  not  yet  turned  into  the  yellow  robes  made  of  silk  and  cloth  fabrics  the  Civaka  offered  to the  Buddha,  such  as  Fabric  Aernheyrn , rain  cloth , seat  linen,  bed  clothes,  abscess  napkins,  and  other cloth.

Besides, “yellow robe”  means  clothing  that  monks  and  novices in  Buddhism use which  includes  Sangkhati,  Uttrasong  and  Antaravasaka  that    appeared  in  Tripitaka.  It  also means  three  pieces of cloth  for  covering  the body  of monks and novices,  which  are  solemnly  called Antaravasaka, Uttrasong, and  Sangkhati. In this sense, in the well-known Buddhist ordination, the yellow robe is as used a blanket term to  refer to the monks. Most Thai people understand that yellow robe is monks’ and  novices’ costume, one  of  the  four  basic  necessities.

The Provision concerning  the  use  for  yellow robes to Buddhist monks Based on the study, showed  that  yellow robes  are four usable consumer goods of       a monk, and  novices  that,  must  be  considered  before  consumption:  yellow  robes.  food, living shelters and  medicine (Cilanapesach). in this research, only  the  yellow robes  allowed  by  the discipline, relevant  rules, regulations, and practices of the monks  have  been  presented. The Buddha  for  mulated  rules  and  provisions  and allowed the monks to have three garments of the yellow robes   Buddha  believd  there  might  several  types  of  yellow robes  but  the  laid  down  two  provisions  for   this :  (1)provision that  allows the use of yellow robes  and  (2) provision that does not  allow  the use of yellow robes.

The  use  of the yellow robes in Theravada Buddhism can  be summarized  under  two sections: (1) the successor  to  the discipline that  how to maintain the discipline that  succession is best  by  education, learning and good deeds to be a discipline that must be met for the Buddha’s commandments  and  the discipline of the monks. However, the  provisions  relating to  clothing or  the yellow robes, collecting alms,  must  not  be offensive  to Singkhabod,  and (2) the spread of Buddhism about the use of  yellow  robes  for  Buddhist monks  while  collecting alms both directly and indirectly, which  the villagers ment, could see the simplicity, a modesty , detach, simple living, and  good  conduct.
