A STUDY OF PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS DRINKING ALCOHOL AFFECT THE THAI SOCIETY 2010

Abstract

The aim of this thesis is consisted of 3 objectives :- 1) To study status and conflict of alcohol drinking in Thai social. 2) To study impact of alcohol drinking to Thai society. 3)  To study guideline in problem’s solving of alcohol drinking for Buddhist doctrines. It is found that :-

1) The status and problem of alcohol drinking in Thai Society caused link’s problems to many things, extravagance, poorness, and conflict of family, causing crime, accident, disease, losing properties, and including losing the economics of Thai Society. 2) There is the impact of alcohol drinking which makes misunderstanding that alcohol drinking is the culture and a part of life. It is culture infiltrating in the attitude, it was made people look it simply. Although, the religious ceremony still have alcohol drinking. The alcohol drinking is causing heedlessness, restraint, and violence which are the social problems. 3) The way of problem’s solving of alcohol drinking according to Buddhist doctrines, it brings the Buddhist doctrines solve the alcohol drinking in Thai Society. The researcher has studies drinking problem of the individual, the mental and physical health of the member in family and relative including social problem as follow :-

 1) The way of problem’s solving of the alcohol drinking for solving of individual health by using the three doctrines namely, (1) the causes of ruin (Apâyamukha), (2) the five precepts (Pañca-sîla), and (3) awareness (Satisampajañña)

2) The Buddhist doctrines using to solve the mental and physical problem in family, there are two Dhammas, namely, (1) the virtues for good household life (Gharâvâsa-dhamma), and (2) the six directions (Singâlaka-sutta). These dhammas can harmonize the family warm.

3) There are three Buddhist doctrines about the solution of social problem, there are :- (1) Khanti (Patience) and Soracca (Modesty), (2) five doctrines (Pañca-dhamma), and (3) the benefit in the present (Ditthadhammikattha)

The Buddhist doctrines as mentioned above, it is the tool to control the mentality of the person who ever concerned with alcohol to stop drinking. It promotes people have a good life in the future by to be endowed with energy and industry, protection, association with good people, and living economically.
